  • Timezone: Used to deliver daily digests and alerts at appropriate local times.
  • Preferences: Your favorite resorts/zones, alert subscriptions, and daily digest settings.

When you interact with our services, we may automatically collect:

  • Usage Data: Records of your queries (resorts/zones requested), message timestamps, and interaction history to improve our service.
  • Device Information: Basic information about your device when accessing our website.

How We Use Your Information

  • Deliver snow reports, weather conditions, and avalanche forecasts via SMS, voice, and web
  • Send daily digest reports (if opted in) at your preferred time
  • Send powder alerts for significant snowfall at your subscribed resorts and zones (if opted in)

SMS/Text Messaging

By providing your phone number and subscribing to TheSnowLine, you consent to receive text messages from us. These messages may include:

  • Responses to your snow, weather, and avalanche queries
  • Daily digest reports (if enabled)
  • Powder alerts for significant snowfall (if enabled)
  • Account and billing notifications

Message Frequency: Message frequency varies based on your settings and queries. Daily digests are sent once per day. Powder alerts are limited to 3 per day per region.

Message and Data Rates: Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier plan.

Opt-Out: You can opt out of automated messages (daily digest and powder alerts) at any time by texting STOP ALERTS. You will still be able to text or call for live reports. To fully unsubscribe from all messages, reply STOP to any message. Text HELP for assistance.

Third-Party Services

We work with trusted third-party service providers to operate TheSnowLine:

  • Weather Data Providers: We aggregate data from NOAA/National Weather Service, SNOTEL, WeatherAPI, Open-Meteo, and regional avalanche centers (CAIC, UAC, SAC) to provide accurate reports.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

  • No storage of credit card details on our servers (handled by Stripe)
